MYSTERY PHOTO:  A place you won’t forget

A reader tells us that if you drive by this place, not only will you never forget it, but you’ll feel like you’re a Halloween version of the movie Groundhog Day.   No way, this friend tells us, that he would ever venture down this driveway – even in the daytime.  We’ll tell you this:  It’s in South Carolina.  But where?  Send your best guess to:  editor@charlestoncurrents.com — and make sure to include the name of the town in which you live.  Please also write “Mystery Photo” in the subject line.

Last week’s Mystery Photo of piper John Weed was taken during a send-off to a friend in Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston.   As expected, the mystery turned out to be such a good one that you had to have seen the area to have guessed it.  Only one person — Joe Mendelsohn of Charleston — had a definitive answer:  “Back side of Magnolia Cemetery.”  Veteran sleuth George Graf used all sorts of tools to make his correct guess, but admitted it was hard to figure out because the lack of visual clues:  “Tough one since Google satellite and street views only follows roads and not cemetery lawns so I couldn’t zoom in on any possibilities.  Great sleuthing to whomever gets this difficult test.”
